Suffolk PAC Junior Events 2017/18

Suffolk PAC will run levels 2 (Double) and level 3 (Twenty) junior coaching sessions this coming season 2017/18.

Venue is Alton Water, Holbrook, Suffolk.

The dates are:

• Saturday 15th October 2017 Level 2 (Double)
• Saturday 3rd March 2018 Level 3 (Twenty)

Time 9:30am-4.00pm

Juniors are aged between 6 and 16 years old.

Youngesters Get Hooked on Lure Fishing

Angling Trust coaches were on hand at Suffolk’s Needham Lake recently to support a junior lure fishing day.

The event was the brainchild of Pike Anglers’ Club liaison officer, Jason Skilton, Gipping Valley AC and Suffolk County AAA coach, Mark Brewster and Ron Dalton of the Lure Anglers’ Society.

Over three months’ planning and preparation saw more than twenty youngsters attend and the day showcased a particularly active and colourful side of our sport.

England lure squad members, Gary and Sam Edmonds were also part of the large team that provided tuition and advice to participants.  They also gave instruction on how to handle, safely unhook and return the pike caught. Whilst fishing was difficult in the bright conditions, modest sized specimens were banked and the coaches were able to emphasize and reiterate the conservation aspect of pike and predator fishing.

Local youngsters Aston Lander and Max Rushbrook took home the main prizes for their catches and everyone left with a goody bag filled with pike and lure fishing magazines and DVDs. Afterwards, Jason and Mark thanked everyone involved, the event’s sponsors and GVAC and Mid Suffolk District Council for use of Needham Lake.

Dear All,

Just thought I would give you guys and girls the heads up on a future event for March 2014.

After the successful inclusion of the Lure Anglers Society (LAS) in the last Suffolk PAC teach in at the begining of the month, the volunteers and coaches of both the PAC and LAS have agreed to stage our first joint teach in / fish in.

The format for the days event is that it is a lure only event for twenty junior anglers (under 18s) to experience the joy of lure fishing We intend to split the day into two parts, morning is the teach in, were we will cover lure fishing, handling, welfare and tackle. The afternoon session will be a fish in for the junior attendees to show off their new found skills (with the help of their coaches) and battle it out for some prizes.

So what do I want from you, well if you are a junior angler, or are a parent and you want you son or daughter to attend, please get there name down, based on the last attendees, the min age should be 6 years old.

Alternatively, if you are a qualified angling coach (level 1 or 2) we would be very greatful if you can attend and coach, or if you are interested in being one of our other expert volunteers please feel free to contact me.

Joint Event - PAC/LAS Junior Teach in / Fish in (Lure Only)

Just to give you guys and girls a heads up for a event early next year.

The PAC & LAS (Lure Anglers Society) are teaming up for a joint event for junior anglers (under 18's).

We planned to hold a teach in and fish in on a Suffolk lake one Saturday during March 2014.

So watch this space for further details in the coming months!!!

All About Pike - Suffolk PAC Teach in 2013

The Pike Anglers Club of GB, Suffolk region have arranged a basic pike fishing and handling teach in on Saturday the 5 October 2013 from 9am to 3pm.

The venue is the Gipping Angling Preservation Society (G.A.P.S) water called Barham B, in Barham, Suffolk.

We have a limited no spots available for newcomers or inexperienced pike anglers to come along for the day to learn from our team of coaches on pike fishing, handling and fish welfare.
